Tribal Liaisons

Tribal liaison staff members representing the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapapho tribes work with the governor's planning staff to lend a voice to the Indian tribes of Wyoming, a group that has traditionally been underrepresented in state government.

Eastern Shoshone

The tribal liaison for the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and the state of Wyoming is actively engaged in many efforts, including:

  • Fostering and developing a positive relationship between the Eastern Shoshone Business Council and the Governor’s Office and other state agencies.
  • Reservation-wide fiber optics project that will improve high-speed computer service to programs and residents of the Wind River Indian Reservation and residents of Wyoming.
  • A telecommunications project that will improve radio coverage for residents of the Wind River Indian Reservation, Bureau of Indian Affairs Police Department, Wyoming Department of Transportation and residents of Wyoming.
  • Cultivating an understanding of the legislative process among Eastern Shoshone tribal members and engaging tribal members and programs in the process.
  • Informing the Governor’s Office, state agencies, and legislators of the Eastern Shoshone Business Council legislative actions, tribal programs and projects.
  • Working with the Select Committee on Tribal Relations to push legislation that will benefit the people of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and the people of the Wind River Indian Reservation.

Northern Arapaho

The tribal liaison for the Northern Arapaho Tribe and the state of Wyoming is actively engaged in many efforts, including:

  • Fostering and developing a positive relationship between the Northern Arapaho Business Council and the governor's office and other state agencies
  • Cultivating an understanding of the legislative process among Northern Arapaho tribal members and engaging tribal members in the process
  • Promoting and strengthening a relationship between the Wyoming Legislature and the Northern Arapaho Business Council and other tribal members
  • Providing information and promoting awareness among the Northern Arapaho Business Council regarding the operations of state government
  • Promoting awareness among state agencies, legislators, and the governor's office of the needs and status of Northern Arapaho children and families
  • Developing collaborative efforts between state agencies and Northern Arapaho departments
