First Lady Nancy Freudenthal

First Lady Nancy Freudenthal was born and raised in Cody, Wyoming and earned both a bachelor’s degree and a juris doctorate from the University of Wyoming. She served under former Wyoming Governors Ed Herschler and Mike Sullivan and practiced with the law firm of Davis & Cannon from 1995 - 2010.  She was sworn in as district court judge for the U.S. District Court for Wyoming on June 1, 2010. 

Judge Freudenthal is a past chairman for a nationwide initiative known as Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free. The Leadership is a collaboration of almost 70 current and emeritus spouses of governors working together in a
nonpartisan effort to increase public awareness, engage policymakers,
and mobilize action to stop childhood drinking. She also served as the President of the Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free Foundation.

In 2009 Judge Freudenthal became a Trustee of WESTAF (the Western States Arts Federation,) a nonprofit arts service organization dedicated to the creative advancement and preservation of the arts.

She also serves on the University of Wyoming Art Museum National
Advisory Board, whose mission is to promote education, awareness and
understanding of the visual arts and its impact on our culture to
students, residents, and visitors of Wyoming.

Judge Freudenthal has long championed other issues important to Wyoming families.  She works with and participates in the annual Governor’s Roundtable on Children and Families; the annual National Scholastic Read; the annual Governor’s Capitol Art Show and Sale; the Susan G. Komen Foundation Race for the Cure; and is on the Advisory Board for the Family Economic Self Sufficiency Project.

The Freudenthals have four grown children: Don, Hillary, Bret and
Katie.
