Cistern Project for Pavillion Area Launched

CHEYENNE, Wyo. –  Governor Matt Mead announced that residents living in the Pavillion East Water Supply Project area, which is near the Town of Pavillion, will receive water cistern systems. The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is managing the project and the Wyoming Water Development Commission is funding the project.

“Some of the people who live in this area have problems with their drinking water, while others are being impacted by the perception about their water quality,” Governor Mead said. “I am glad this project is up and running.”

The DEQ says participating residents will be responsible for delivery of the water to the cisterns from the Town of Pavillion. The participating residents agree to allow the State access to their existing wells for monitoring and testing in relation to the ongoing investigations.

Interested residents, who reside within the boundaries of the Pavillion East Water Supply Project who wish to participate, need to contact Karen Halvorsen, P.E., DEQ Storage Tank Program Manager at (307) 777-7244 by August 15, 2012.
