Governor Mead observes September 11th at Capitol Ceremony

CHEYENNE, Wyo. –  Governor Matt Mead and his family joined Wyoming’s Adjutant General, Director of Homeland Security and local firefighters in Cheyenne to mark the events of September 11, 2001. The ceremony took place on the steps of the State Capitol.

“There is no question that on that day our country was wounded and wounded deeply,” Governor Mead said in his speech, “You may call it stubbornness, you may call it grit, you may call it courage, all of us certainly call it love of country, but, we did not stay lying down, we got up.” Governor Mead says our entire nation was inspired by the first-responders who went into the Twin Tours to save others, by people we don’t know who gave so much and by the people who volunteered to serve in our military and protect our country from future attacks.

“We have a duty to those who have fallen and those who have served to make sure we remember and that every day we put a foot forward to make this country a better place,” Governor Mead said. He thanked everyone gathered in Cheyenne and elsewhere for gathering and taking time to remember.
