HISTORIC PRESERVATION MONTH
WHEREAS, Wyoming has a rich history and architectural resources that represents our Western Heritage to the citizen and the visitor;
WHEREAS, there is a willingness among Wyoming communities to preserve and utilize historic structures to create a unique “presence of place” and a vital business community;
WHEREAS, cultural tourism is dependent upon our important historic resources whether rural or urban, high style or humble;
WHEREAS, strong stewardship of cultural resources and the preservation of historic buildings are beneficial to our communities and establishing a community’s identity;
WHEREAS, Wyoming Historic Preservation Commissions and Main Street Communities are dedicated to the principles of historic preservation;
WHEREAS, the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office and the Wyoming Main Street Program are committed to building strong preservation partnerships with the business community and the public;
NOW, THEREFORE, I DAVE FRUDENTHAL, Governor of the State of Wyoming, do hereby proclaim May, 2008 as
“HISTORIC PRESERVATION MONTH”
and urge the people of Wyoming to attend the “Preserve Wyoming 2008: Main Street and Beyond” conference to be held in Cheyenne, Wyoming May 14, 15, and 16, 2008.
