NURSES WEEK
WHEREAS, The Department of Health is the second largest department in Wyoming State Government, and nurses are the largest workforce within the Department of Health, and
WHEREAS, nurses in the Department of Health meet the different and emerging health care needs of the Wyoming population in a wide range of settings, and
WHEREAS, The Wyoming Department of Health is working to chart a new course for a healthy state that relies on increasing delivery of nursing care, and
WHEREAS, Professional nursing has been demonstrated to be an indispensable component in the safety and quality of care of patients, and
WHEREAS, The demand for nursing services will be greater than ever because of the aging of the Wyoming population, the continuing expansion of life-sustaining technology, and the explosive growth of healthcare needs, and
WHEREAS, More qualified nurses employed by Wyoming state government will be needed in the future to meet the increasingly complex needs of healthcare consumers in the state, and
WHEREAS, the cost-effective, safe and quality healthcare services provided by state employed nurses will be an ever more important component of the Wyoming healthcare delivery system in the future, and
WHEREAS, Along with the American Nurses Association, the Wyoming Department of Health has declared the week of May 6-12 as NATIONAL NURSES WEEK with the theme Nurses: Making a Difference Every Day in celebration of the ways in which nurses strive to provide safe and high quality patient care and map out the way to improve our healthcare system.
NOW THEREFORE, I, DAVE FREUDENTHAL, Governor of the State of Wyoming, do hereby proclaim May 6-12, 2008, as
“NURSES WEEK”
in Wyoming and urge the residents to celebrate the accomplishments and efforts by Wyoming State nurses to improve our healthcare system and show our appreciation for the state’s nurses not just during this week, but at every opportunity throughout the year.
