INVASIVE WEED AWARENESS WEEK
WHEREAS, Wyoming has regularly dealt with the presence of unwanted invasive weeds that are not native to the state that by which of their invasive nature poses a genuine danger to the well being of the state; and
WHEREAS, Wyoming farmers, ranchers, commercial greenhouse and nursery owners, recreational groups, government, and industry clearly acknowledge the economic and environmental dangers posed to their continued economic and social well being by the presence of invasive weeds; and
WHEREAS, the development of a Wyoming Invasive Weed Awareness Week would help educate Wyoming citizens on the impacts of invasive weeds to Wyoming’s agriculture, economy and native ecology; and
WHEREAS, the development of a Wyoming Invasive Weed Awareness Week would provide Wyoming citizens young and old with formal and informal education, information and knowledge about aspects of how integrated weed management can stop the spread of invasive weeds; and
WHEREAS, the commitment of Wyoming citizens during Wyoming Invasive Weed Awareness can help stop the insidious threat of invasive weeds to the state;
NOW, THEREFORE, I DAVE FRUDENTHAL, Governor of the State of Wyoming, do hereby proclaim May 11-17, 2008 as
“INVASIVE WEED AWARENESS WEEK”
in Wyoming.
